Patrick entered the financial services industry in 1979 when he joined Prudential's Home Service Division. Dissatisfied with the restrictions of a single provider Patrick decided he wanted to offer independent financial advice, so he left the Pru to set up his own firm and so, in 1985 Financial Planning Partners was born.
From the outset, Patrick's mission has always been to deliver the highest quality financial planning advice backed with the best technical knowledge, experience, training and the ability to apply those qualities in order to have a positive impact on the lives of FPP's clients.
His insistence on the highest technical standards means that Patrick holds the coveted Chartered Financial Planner status (APFS) awarded by the Personal Finance Society. He also holds advanced qualifications in Pensions, Investment Planning, Taxation, Trusts and Investment Portfolio Management as well as additional qualifications in mortgages, equity release, and case study analysis. He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and complies with their Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Patrick is keen on keeping fit, and is the 40th person in the world to have completed the marathon Grand Slam https://www.npmarathon.com/html/race-info/5.html which involves running a marathon on all 7 continents as well as at the North Pole. In November 2013, he also ran marathons in the Antarctic and Chile with his daughter Charlotte, making them the third father/daughter marathon running team in the world to have run marathons together on all 7 continents.
Apart from running Patrick also enjoys cycling, cinema, theatre, cooking, travel, scuba diving, rugby and is currently to learning to dance Argentine Tango.
Outside of Financial Planning, he is developing a career in public speaking and recently gave talks on dealing with challenges and problem solving.
Patrick is a keen supporter of local charities having raised over £5,000 for DEBRA. For his two marathons runs in the Antarctic and Chile in November 2013 he raised over £3,000 for https://www.daisysdream.org.uk/, a charity devoted to supporting children and their families affected by both life threatening illness and bereavement throughout Berkshire and surrounding areas.
Tony joined Financial Planning Partners in September 1998 following a successful career in human resources and employee benefits. He quickly became indispensable.
Tony is the great 'technician' of the team, ensuring that the advice the firm gives is technically correct, whilst providing cost effective, imaginative solutions to financial problems. He is especially adept at investment recommendations and monitoring, with clients' funds consistently performing well as a result of his fine selections.
Tony has attained his Full Advanced Financial Planning Certificate awarded by the Personal Finance Society. This combined with his degree in Business Studies and Economics and the Mortgage Advice qualification ensures that Tony is an invaluable member of the team.
Tony lives and works in Crowthorne and can often be spotted around the village being dragged along by Milly, the family Golden Retriever. Married to Gillian, his 'free' time is taken up with being a dad to his daughter Charlotte. He is a keen Aston Villa supporter and will talk 'football' to anybody prepared to listen.
Alison joined Financial Planning Partners in June 1998 as a part time filing clerk. It quickly became apparent from the breadth and depth of her skills and knowledge that she was wasted doing straightforward filing. As the years have passed, Alison has become our full time practice manager responsible for many tasks including compliance, new business processing and client queries.
Alison wanted to expand her abilities and knowledge and is now qualified to an advanced level. This knowledge has been put to good use and she now produces client reports for advisers within the practice. Her superior knowledge also means that queries can often be answered without referring back to the adviser, saving clients' time. She has now started studying for her chartered examinations.
Alison has three teenage children who keep her busy. In her spare time she likes going to the gym or watching her son play football.
The newest member of the team, Emma joined Financial Planning Partners in April 2014. She oversees the administration of client reviews, ensuring the agreed level of service is delivered smoothly and proficiently. Responsibilities also include client communications (such as the monthly client newsletter, legislation updates and postal mailshots) and managing Patrick's diary, along with anything else he might throw at her.
Occasionally she may attend client meetings with advisers to streamline proceedings and allow for a more efficient follow up process. Emma is working towards her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, something she is finding increasingly easier as her knowledge and experience of the industry grows. She is keen to continue developing her skills and expertise when she has completed this. Most of her spare time is spent coaching synchronised swimming at Henley Synchronised Swimming Club, where she takes charge of the 13-14 age group… something which can be as challenging as it is rewarding!
